2023
My tour prices with a vehicle and driver have increased a little, mainly due to rising fuel prices throughout Europe. I would point out however, that my vehicle tours include both myself as a guide AND a dedicated driver. The benefit of this to you is that, I can concentrate on talking to you. The driver is in charge of the journey, parking and safety. So I can show you images and maps as we drive from location to location.

Two Types of Tour
"Step On" Tours
For 2023, like previous years, I will mainly be offering "Step On" tours, where I join your rental vehicle for the day. This way of touring Normandy is becoming increasingly popular. Travelers often have a rental vehicle anyway, and hiring just a guide is more affordable than booking both a guide and a vehicle. Also, you will have all your belongings, drinks, books and rain gear with you. I will navigate and show you where to park at each location we visit. |
"Chauffeur" Tours
I also offer tours in partnership with my brother Thierry who has his own transportation company working under the "Registre des Voitures de Transport avec Chauffeur (VTC)." He also has a Chauffeur de Voiture de Tourisme card issued by the Prefecture de Calvados. If you book this service you gain the benefit of a dedicated driver AND me as a guide. We can accommodate up to 7 clients at a time in a comfortable 9-seater van (allowing 2 spaces for myself and Thierry my driver.) |
My Full-day tours (9 hours) run from 9.00am to 6.00pm - but this can be altered
My Half-Day Tours (5 hours) usually start 9.00am or 1.00pm

Payments
In addition to taking payments in cash, I take the majority of my payments via PayPal. A deposit at the time of booking and the balance before the tour. There are many different online payment systems available these days, some with smaller fees than PayPal. The reason I am loyal to PayPal is they have the best protection system in-place. Your payments and my earnings are very safe with their globally trusted platform. When taking payments via PayPal I share the transaction fees with you.

My Guiding Style
There are many different companies and guides to choose from in Normandy. I am a tour guide not a military hardware nerd. I approach my tours like a teacher, offering my clients a step by step understanding of DDay. What were the aims and objectives? How was it planned and how did it unfold? I am a big fan of maps, and my first aim is make sure you know where you are standing and what you can see around you. I am especially suited to people with a big interest but perhaps little knowledge of the events of 1944. I like to keep my tours friendly and informal and will guide you through some of the key sites in Normandy with plenty of time for questions and for a nice Norman lunch. If you want to talk about self-propelled guns and machine gun rates of fire - book someone else! If you want to learn about a day that changed the world from the perspective of a child of invasion survivors and have a fun enjoyable day, then please I would love to hear from you.
